| Agave attenuata
|
Description Agave attenuata ‘Kara's Stripes’ is a brightly colored Agave comes from PlantHaven, it has a clumping habit with butter yellow leaves with a thin green margin. 'Kara's Stripes' was discovered by Gary Gragg of Golden Gate Palms & Exotics Nursery as a sport of the species. The leaves are spineless, like the species, and will show more of the variegated color with higher light levels. A little caution in extremely hot areas like we have here in Texas, some afternoon shade is recommended to prevent burning of the foliage. 'Kara's Stripes' is not very cold tolerant but her beauty makes up for that. For those in areas that can get below freezing be sure to protect this Agave well or better yet plant it in a container and bring her inside during the winter months. Variegated Spineless Century Plant will reach 2-4' tall and 3-4' wide and makes a great specimen plant or it is great combined with darker foliage plants for wonderful contrast. Hardiness: USDA Zones
