Ajuga reptans 'Binblasca' - Black Scallop Bugleweed P.P. # 15,815

Description

Ajuga reptans 'Binblasca' is a new Ajuga from the folks at PlantHaven. This one originated in the U.K. as a sport of Ajuga reptans 'Braunherz', discovered by Mike Tristram. Like other Ajugas, Black Scallop makes a nice groundcover in mass plantings and along perennial borders, it also works well in mixed containers. The difference between this and others is the large jet black foliage that is darker and larger than other cultivars on the market. Black Scallop Bugleweed P.P. # 15,815 can be grown in sunny or shady conditions but the best coloration will be seen when planted in full sun, also the foliage color intensifies in cooler weather. Flowers are violet-blue and are seen early spring till summer. Black Scallop has a spreading habit but keeps dense, at only 4-6" tall, so as a groundcover it gives a very full appearance.
