Description

Black Eyed Susans are native to North America and have bright daisy-like composite flowers with a central cone that is very prominent. The flowers are usually in tones of yellow, however the cones may vary from a rust color to black. Many varieties make excellent cut flowers and the plants generally flower from early summer to late fall. The plants like full sun and somewhat moist soil conditions. Rudbeckia make great plants to attract butterflies. Rudbeckia fulgida var. sullivantii 'Goldsturm' has large flower heads that are golden yellow in color. The flowers are 3.5 to 5 inches across and the plant is approximately 24 inches in height. This plant was named 1999 PPA Perennial Plant of the Year!
