| Strobilanthes dyerianus

Description Persian Shield is a beautiful foliage plant with a unique coloring that you absolutely can not get with any other plant. It grows to about 3’ with bright purple leaves and green veins, and as if that isn’t beautiful enough, it looks like it has been dry- brushed with silver, creating an iridescent glow. Strobilanthes dyerianus 'Persian Shield' should be grown in shade gardens or in filtered light, as bright sun will dull the color or even burn the plant. Strobilanthes loves to be watered, and appreciates a good amended soil, but needs good drainage or it will rot. It is an excellent plant for containers and would look great next to some lighter foliage plants to bring out the contrast. It is deer and rabbit resistant and takes the heat and humidity well. Also great for shade gardens as well as for an accent plant. In summers with sweltering heat or on the cool side, the multi-colored foliage is always exquisite. Hardiness: USDA Zones
